It’s enough to make any self-respecting libertarian cringe in horror. i just got off the phone with an NGO serving a provincial government agency, serving the federal government, who in turn serves the United Nations which is under the authority of the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4), the devil. To be more specific, I need fingerprints for a vulnerable sector check. I was already fingerprinted as a medic, but, hey, this is for the mounties organized by an NGO for the OPP to give to the the RCMP, ASAP and the onus is on little ‘ol me to come up with the DOH RAY ME (90 dollars) to get the fingerprints done. Someone needs to tell the government that unlike the PM’s mind, fingerprints never change and my on-file prints should be just fine. I called the number to set all this up and after listening to a looped recording for 10-15 I got a living, breathing person to which to speak. After 10 seconds, they hung up. Incredulous, I called them right back and, having been relegated once again to the back of the line, I settled in for endless propaganda and bad music. Finally I was able to talk to someone who did not hang up on me and we sorted it out. This caused a realization for me today.
God is not a bureaucrat. He is straight forward and his appoach is understandable. Back in the days of Elijah the prophet, there came a time when he was to pass the mantle to Elisha. He found Elisha in the field plowing with 12 yoke of oxen, walked up to him and threw the mantle on him and walked off. Simple. Elisha complicates things but asking if he could go home and say good bye to his parents. Elisha replied, “Go back again: for what have I done to thee?” (1 Kings 19:20). Elijah could not be bothered with the mundane and monotonous bureaucratic entanglements of life. He was a prophet of God; no more, no less, and uninterested in anyone’s self imposed barricades to following God.
A man once walked up to Jesus and said that he wanted to follow Jesus but first he wanted to go and bury his father. Jesus answered him with, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.” (Matt 8:22) Too many of us, and for too many times, get bogged down with things that come between us and our walk with the Lord. What is it that impedes your progress? Is there some reason that you are rejecting Jesus’ free gift of salvation? The Bible says that, very simply put, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. (Acts 16:31). Simply trust that He died for you on the cross, to pay for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. You will then have a home in heaven forever.
